Our veterinary surgeons are fully insured with the Veterinary Defence Society.
Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Bescoby Veterinary Services. We offer this website, including all information, tools and services available from this site to you, the user, conditioned upon your acceptance of all policies and notices stated here. This privacy notice tells you how will collect and process your personal data.
When you register an animal via our website, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, address, telephone number(s), email address and details relating to your animal(s). When you provide us with this personal information, you consent to our collecting it and using it to register you as a client on our practice management system.
This data will be used for the following services and purposes:
- To create or update your account and provide the products and services you have requested from us. For example, invoicing, calling to change an appointment and to keep a record for legal and accounting purposes.
- To inform you of changes to the service provided and information about the practice, and to remind you of routine preventative healthcare treatments via email. You can opt out of these if preferred.
- If you have horse insurance and you wish to make a claim, we will pass on your animal’s relevant clinical history with your name and address to your insurance company to allow them to process your claim.
- If we take a blood sample from your horse, we send the sample to our supplier and provide your surname for identification purposes only.
- Should you wish to chip your animal, we register your name, address and contact number with the chip provider. Note that chipping horses and dogs is a legal requirement, and we share your personal data in this case as we have a legal obligation to do so.
- To share with veterinary third parties with your consent e.g. to refer you to a specialist veterinary surgeon, or if you wish to change veterinary practices.
- Personal data may also be shared with debt recovery agencies or the county court.
When you browse our website, we also automatically receive your computer’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system.
If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, we will ask you directly for your expressed consent. We will not pass on your personal data to any third parties without your consent unless the law requires us to do so.
We do not provide any personal data to the suppliers of the medicines we administer or the products we sell.
We endeavour to keep your information accurate and up-to-date, and not keep it longer than 7 years after our service agreement has been terminated (e.g. your animal has been sold, is deceased or you have moved to another veterinary practice).
At any point while we are in possession of or processing your personal data, you have Right of Access (to request a copy of the information that we hold about you). We require this in writing and you may be asked to provide proof of identity in the form of a current passport or driving licence and this information will be supplied within the required 30 days.
As data subject, you have a right to lodge any complaint about your data with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
